Wirral is the peninsula that juts out between the River Dee and the River Mersey. It is a unique visitor destination with a spectacular coastline and beautiful surrounding countryside. The City of Liverpool sits to one side and the Welsh hills to the other. There is plenty to see and do in the area. Visit the Port Sunlight Village, the model village designed by William Hesketh Lever and built in the late 19th century to house his workers from the Lever Brothers soap factory. Set in 130 acres of glorious parkland, more than 900 houses were designed and built using different architectural styles with the assistance of around 30 architects. The village has a museum housing some of Lever's personal collection of around 20,000 artefacts collected from around the world, a hotel, various self catering accommodation, a pub, garden centre and tea rooms. The village is testament to the renowned philanthropist with most of the properties now Grade ll listed.
Visit Wirral Country Park, Wirral Tramway & Wirral Transport Museum in nearby Birkenhead, Wallasey Golf Club, famous for it's sand dunes and north westerly winds or experience fine dining at Restaurant Fraiche, the only Michelin star restaurant in Merseyside.
