Where is the studio?
Who are your sessions intended for ?
Every ability level is catered for at the studio. We run sessions for complete beginners, regular gigging professionals and semi-professionals. We can generally work with all comers, in fact this is what keeps us fresh in terms of skills!
What happens after I make my purchase ?
After you buy your voucher, unless agreed otherwise, you will receive a receipt of your payment by email. The voucher will then be sent out to you by first class post or email, depending on your choice on purchase. We can also send it out by Special Delivery (Next Day) for an additional £10. Some people request no voucher, which is also fine.
I would like this voucher to be a surprise gift. How do I do this?
This is quite a frequent request and we are happy to assist in this by sending out vouchers in unmarked envelopes, or sometimes no voucher at all. However you need to let us know your wishes in advance!
How do I go about booking when I have my voucher?
Ideally you may contact the studio by telephone or email to offer us a date/dates when you wish to attend. You can also request a map and provide more details of your session. A mobile number for the person attending is also welcome.
What type of industry standards do you work to?
We have staff with many decades' experience both in recording and production, we offer the latest versions of all the key software. Our services are regularly sought after by companies that create and retail professional multi-track backings, and we now have a high degree of specialism in vocal recording and harmonisation, music production and songwriting assistance and arrangement. You can study our software and hardware list on our official recording studio website. See address above or on our contact page:
If I want to have a hand in the production, can I ?
You may wish to leave all the recording and production up to the technicians, although you will be offered the opportunity to enter the control room regularly for your in put. At this point you are welcome to get as involved as you like. We also offer music production days for the truly committed.
Does my session have to finish at the agreed time?
Your session will finish at the agreed time most likely if you do not give us prior notification of a possible extension. We are quite flexible, but advanced warning is always helpful.
How about cancellations?
If you are unable to attend your session, simply call us as soon as possible to let us know, and re-schedule as soon as possible. We will most likely not accept cancellations after the session has started, but we are very flexible otherwise. Vouchers are valid for a year, so book soon, to allow for possible issues such as a sore throat or a unexpected commitment.
I would like a session musician or a singer . How is this done?
There are a variety of session singers and musicians associated with the studio. These include male and female singers of a wide variety, guitarists, pianists and keyboardists, accompanists, violinists, and many other instrumentalists. The cost to hire ranges between £50 and £75.To reserve a session artist, please let us have plenty of warning, so that you can have the maximum choice.
Do you make videos?
The studio has HD recording facilities and a high standard of recording and editing available. If you wish to have a video, prices start at £100, although this is sometimes reduced on some packages.
What accommodation is available?
There are many very good bed and breakfasts and hotels in the area. We can direct you to the nearest or you can make your own enquiries. Very occasionally we have some basic accommodation available at the studio.
What is the situation regarding backing tracks?
We usually ask customers to choose backing tracks and we check these against our resources. We can usually provide backings for most well-known singles and even some album tracks.
Is there a maximum number of tracks I can record?
You may record as many songs as you are able to sing in the time you book, allowing for the editing and finishing processes. the maximum in our history in 18 tracks recording in a five hour session. Six is more likely, as that was a professional cabaret artist in full flight!
What is it possible to record?
We offer singing to backings, singing with your own accompaniment, songwriting days, music production days, instrumental days, essentially anything you really want to record. If you have some self-penned numbers we can work with you to produce these properly. Please remember that music production from scratch takes longer than simple recording to backings, and that an original track usually takes approximately 5 hours to get into a good basic well produced commercial format.
What is the studio access like ?
There is ground level access direct into the recording area, and we can provide a ramp. The WC is immediately to hand on the flat, but is not big enough to take a wheelchair, although a grab rail is available. We do routinely cater for people with disabilities.
